Adam gave himself a haircut

Adam gave himself a haircut.

It wasn't bad. Mostly he cut his bangs off in front. A. took him to a barber to even things out. The end result was shorter than we preferred, but it looked OK.

Then, the very next day, Adam cut his hair again.

There a is big chunk of hair missing near the front. We would have to shave him bald to even things out this time.

Adam says he likes his new haircut and he wants to cut his hair every day.

Excuse me while I go hide all the scissors.

I think this must be one of those "parental rites of passage" cause Rowan did the same thing to his hair, in the same spot. It looked a tad goofy for a while but he didn't care. Fortunately he was not inclined to try again. His motivation to be allowed to use "the big boy scissors" (his kid scissors) was higher I guess and I told him that if he couldn't use them appropriately (which meant only on paper or cloth that mommy gave him) (and now yogurt tubes as well) then he couldn't use the scissors and I put them up for a few days. :-)

Good luck - and run with it- it may start a hot trend! :-)

My mom teaches pre-school. Most of them think it's a good idea to do it on her watch so that she has to explain to the parents, "You know all that gorgeous curly red hair your daughter had when you dropped her off this morning,,,?"

I think it's combination of learning that a.) scissors cut abd b.) cutting hair doesn't hurt.

Welcome to toddlerhood. :)

I remeber doing that when I was 12 :-)
So, don't worry. And why not lethim live with that haircut? He will see how his friends will react to it, and depending on that he will or will not do it again...
