A few minor announcements
Jan. 16th, 2005 10:21 amTake a sad song and make it better
I have substantially revised The Osama bin Laden Happy Dance. If you heard me sing it at FilkCONtinental or OVFF or you saw it when I posted it on Oct. 16, you may want to take another look. I've edited the Oct. 16 post to keep it up-to-date. Melody available upon request.
Comments are welcome, especially from people who disagree with the POV implied by the song.(I expect you to disagree with the POV explicitly expressed in the song, as it is written from the POV of Osama bin Laden.) It's nice for a political song to entertain those who already agree with the songwriter's POV, but the purpose of such a song is to convince the listener who does not already agree. (I realize that political opinions are notoriously resistant to change, but I can dream, can't I?) So if you don't find the song convincing, please let me know why.
Madam, I'm Adam
Here are a few pictures of Adam.
May your days be merry and bright
To all our friends, especially those who sent us Christmas/Hanukkah/Solstice/Yule cards but didn't get one in return: Sorry, we didn't get around to sending out cards, except to relatives. Don't worry, we still love you and we'll do better next year. Hope your holidays were merry.
We went to Lake Tahoe for Christmas. Just in time for a major snowstorm. The snow was so thick that they wouldn't let trucks on the Interstate. Gasoline trucks, for example. So the gas stations ran out of gas. That wasn't a problem for us, because we weren't about to drive anywhere. We lost power (and therefore heat) for a few hours, but it came back before we turned into icicles.
Adam had a great time sledding and otherwise playing in the snow. I developed new empathy for my Canadian friends who have to put up with this sort of weather, only colder, for months at a time.
Wow, I actually posted something. Hope to post more frequently in the future. I couldn't have done that meme where you were supposed to quote from one post from each month because I didn't have enough posts.
